Do it because you can and others can't. Do it for Les...our "alswarriorpoet-spirit"...
Team Larry will be competing as individuals and relay teams for Ironman Boulder 70.3 on June 13, 2015. Please support us by donating funds for research to honor Les "Larry" Dawson who passed away from ALS. We now race in his memory and to gain even more awareness. The team also has a new battle brewing. This past winter a friend's father, who is named Larry, was diagnosed with ALS. We will rally behind him, giving him strength and support while he fights this disease. The cure is out there, let's find it! Isaiah 40:29-31 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (NIV)

"We finally feel like we are back in the land of the living and are recovered from our Boulder adventure.  While IronMan was an unbelievable experience again this year, our trip home included a very sick child, a dead car battery, #1's broken braces, and 11 1/2 hrs in the car. The day after arriving home greeted us with a 7:30am softball practice for #1, a doctor's visit for a sick #2, an orthodontist visit 45 minutes away for #1, and an optometrist visit 1 1/2 hrs away for little man in addition to unpacking and laundry. Now that I have my head back together, I want to say how so very thankful we are for all of our family and friends who have supported TEAM LARRY (both financially and through thoughts and prayers).  Thanks to all of you, TEAM LARRY has managed to raise $35,000+ in about three years for ALS awareness and research.  The amazing thing about this is this money is not large sums given by corporations.  This money came in bits and pieces from friends and family of TEAM LARRY members.  Thanks again!  TEAM LARRY has big things planned for the year to come.  Our WAR will continue.  One day there will be an ALS survivor."

Thank you to all of you who participated in the Boulder Ironman event as members of TEAM LARRY.  Thank you to all of you who sent pictures and texts and called letting this missing from action IronMomma  (really like my new nickname) know how everyone was doing.  I am sorry I wasn't able to be in two places at once.  Gotta figure out how to do that.  To the new members of the team, just know that even though we have not met, you each are a part of my heart.  YOU are a part of something greater than this event.  You ARE the fuel of ALS awareness! Your efforts will help to find the cure.   God Bless you all!

Great day!  We felt Les with us all day.  I am always amazed about how many triathletes don't know Jon's story.  After yesterday many more do.

All of TEAM LARRY has crossed the finish line!   I felt Uncle Les there today especially at mile 10 when my legs got weak and my shoulders started aching.  We had a little "visit" in my head, and I loosened up to finish strong.  ALS got great visibility today.  I had many comments from fellow runners DURING the race about the sign I wore.  Lots of aches and sweat, BUT we did it because we CAN.

Krystal, you and Team Larry are instilling hope in those individuals with this horrific disease. Through your personal and physical sacrifices- every step ran, every stroke swam, each mile biked and each dollar raised is one step closer to the cure. I salute you and the other members of Team Larry in your efforts. Do it....because you can.

Team Larry is gearing up for their first race without Les (Larry).  Thank you all for supporting Les and for supporting research in finding a CURE for ALS.  We are waiting for SURVIVORS.  Lets find a CURE.
This is a video of Team Larry produced by our niece, Jill and the web site were contributions are being taken.  Thank you all for your love and support for Team Larry.

We want HOPE.  Right now when a person is diagnosed with ALS, there is NO hope.....only a timeline.   There is no "this might work".  There is no "we'll hope for the best."  It's a cruel death sentence.  Please keep TEAM LARRY in your thoughts as we set out this weekend to come together to honor and remember those warriors already gone:  Uncle Les, LD Baker, Boy Kuykendall, Jon Blais, and many more AND race for a cure and ALS awareness for those yet to be diagnosed.

Team Larry will be competing as individuals and relay teams for Ironman Boulder 70.3 on Aug. 4, 2013.  We also have a number of young warriors competing in the IronKids race the day before.  They may not be old, but they understand our goals and race for ALS research as well.  Please support us by donating funds for research to honor Les "Larry" Dawson who recently passed away from ALS.   We now race in his memory and to gain even more awareness.  The cure is out there, let's find it!   Isaiah 40:29-31 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. TEAM LARRY:  I have a youth small old style and new style TEAM LARRY shirt that the little man has outgrown.  Let me know if you know of anyone who might need it for this weekend.

I didn't know what to say about my Uncle Les' passing, until now. I think I finally know what to say. My favorite memory of Uncle Les, we were sitting at Grandma's table last summer. We were all eating Turtle Cake for Aunt Donnie's birthday, I think. He was in his wheelchair and he looked across the table at me and goes, "Soooo. I heard you got yourself a boyfriend!" I promise you my face was cherry red. The whole kitchen erupted with laughter. He did his little snicker. That's the thing about Uncle Les. No matter how bad he was hurting, he always could put a smile on someone's face almost instantly. At his funeral, after I hugged Aunt Donnie, Shane, Mel, and Coates, the sun came out and the church got really bright. I don't know if anyone else saw it, but I did. I promise to you, and I will always believe that, that was him. It happened on Sunday at Church too. I know it was him. I hope GG and Papa greeted him at the gates of Heaven. I can just picture him, sittin under an Oak tree, guitar in hand, singing Wayfaring Stranger, singing for God. That's how I picture him in Heaven.
